Aloha Spirit ~ Island of Calm
A circle for those of us navigating migraine, MCS, and hyperosmia—
bodies that need careful tending,
with kindness, unity, patience, humility, and grace.
Welcome,
You’ve found your way here because your body asks you to move carefully through the world.
This is a place where that carefulness is honored, where your boundaries
are respected, and where you don’t have to explain.

Our Practices
We gather with kindness—tender with our bodies, generous with our limits.
We respect when someone needs to leave early, reschedule, or simply rest in silence.
We create unity—honoring that each person’s experience is different, and all belong here.
Your migraine journey is not my migraine journey, and both are valid.
We cultivate pleasantness—outdoor spaces, natural light, fresh air, no pressure to perform.
No fluorescent lights. No synthetic fragrances. No need to push through.
We embrace humility—our conditions teach us daily; we learn from what we cannot control.
We honor the wisdom our bodies offer, even when it limits us.
We practice patience—with flare-ups, setbacks, slow progress, and the long arc of healing.
Some days are good. Some months are hard. We’re here for all of it.
Who This Is For
You live with migraine, MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity), or hyperosmia (heightened sense of smell) that asks you to move carefully through the world.
You’ve had to say “I can’t” when you wanted to say “yes.”
You’ve felt invisible, misunderstood, or too much.
You’re ready to be seen, held, and understood—exactly as you are.
What to Expect
In our Zoom circles:
Gentle, loosely structured time together. We open with a brief grounding moment, move into sharing (no cross-talk, no fixing), and close with gratitude. You can keep your camera off. You can just listen. There’s no pressure to perform wellness.
At our outdoor gatherings:
Spacious, unrushed time in nature. We might walk slowly, sit in contemplation, share stories, or simply be together in quiet. Locations are chosen for natural beauty and low sensory overwhelm. Fragrance-free is required.
What makes this different:
This isn’t a medical support group focused on treatment protocols. This isn’t therapy. This is a circle of people who understand—without needing to explain—what it’s like to navigate a world that wasn’t built for our nervous systems. We practice aloha together: strong, loving, patient, humble, kind.
Why This Matters
I live with migraine and chemical sensitivities. I know what it’s like to leave an event before it starts—to turn around at the door because someone’s fragrance has already triggered a migraine that could last weeks.
It feels like dodging darts just to be in public. The isolation is real.
This circle exists because we shouldn’t have to choose between connection and safety. We can gather without risk. We can be together without explanation.
I’m a trained advocate with the American Migraine Foundation, and I created this space for all of us who’ve been sidelined too long.
You belong here.

The Five Principles of Aloha
These are the foundations we practice together.
A Note on Aloha
This circle takes its form from the teachings of Auntie Pilahi Paki (1909-1985), a Hawaiian elder, poet, and keeper of sacred knowledge who devoted her life to sharing the Aloha Spirit with the world.
She envisioned a twenty-first-century world in conflict that would look to Hawai’i for healing. Aloha would be its remedy.
She taught that aloha means being strong and loving, not one or the other.
She saw aloha as the heart’s warrior: strong enough to endure, gentle enough to heal.
For those of us with tender bodies and fierce boundaries, this wisdom is a lifeline.
This is what we practice here—together.
